Canna Lillies are a perennial plant that grow from a rhizome under the ground. They require some care as they will look tatty through winter months. I cut the old dead growth off and look forward to their beautiful tropical looking foliage coming away again in the spring.
They also clump up quickly and so it is a good idea to split them every third season, or so.
Their bold foliage is a great way to add a subtropical element to your planting and their revival in gardens today has been followed by some great new cultivars such as this one called 'Bengal Tiger'.
